Description:
Join us for the Des Moines Symphony’s 20th annual Yankee Doodle Pops, Central Iowa’s favorite Fourth of July tradition! This year’s theme is Road Trip U.S.A. — An American Journey. This free, family-friendly and patriotic concert concludes with the area’s premier fireworks display over the downtown Des Moines skyline. Bring your picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs, or purchase food from an array of vendors at the concert.
A Jazz in July Prelude Concert begins at 6:30 p.m., featuring the Turner Center Jazz Orchestra.
Participate in the Yankee Doodle Drive Against Hunger by bringing a non-perishable food item to the concert, and receive a discount offer for the Des Moines Symphony’s 2013-2014 Masterworks Season.
The Des Moines Symphony’s Yankee Doodle Pops is presented by Bank of the West and Dahl’s Foods, with support from BRAVO Greater Des Moines and the Polk County Board of Supervisors. KCCI-TV8 and Lite 104.1 are the concert’s media sponsors.
