HUMPERDINCK Music from Hänsel & Gretel*
LISZT Piano Concerto No. 2 in A Major
MENDELSSOHN Symphony No. 4 – Italian
LISZT Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major
Van Cliburn gold medalist Jon Nakamatsu performs not one, but both of Liszt’s famous and virtuosic Piano Concertos—a technical and musical feat that will dazzle and delight. Plus, Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony, concluding with the rollicking Tarantella, will whisk us all away to the picturesque Mediterranean peninsula, even if just for an evening or afternoon. These concerts are presented by The Healthcare Circle. Concert Prelude Talks begin 45 minutes prior to each Masterworks concert in the East Lobby. Read concert program notes here.
*Performed in the first (1937) Drake/Des Moines Symphony season.
Tickets start at just $15 for adults and $7.50 for students and are available through the Civic Center Ticket Office and Ticketmaster.
