The mighty, soaring Moldau is so evocative that it has become one of the most famous melodies in all of music and the anthem of Czech culture. Pianist Charlie Albright has been described by The Washington Post as “among the most gifted musicians of his generation,” and he makes his Des Moines Symphony debut in Beethoven’s passionate C Minor Piano Concerto.
Tickets: Single tickets are $15-$60 and are available through Ticketmaster (up until two hours prior to performances) and the Civic Center Ticket Office (221 Walnut Street, Des Moines; open 9a-5p Monday through Friday and two hours prior to performances). Student tickets are $7.50-$30 and are available through the Civic Center Ticket Office. Student rush tickets, subject to availability, are $5 for junior high and high school students and $10 for all other students the day of the concert through the Civic Center Ticket Office.
The duration of these concerts is approximately two hours and ten minutes, which includes a 20-minute intermission. This program will be rebroadcast at 4 pm on May 15 and at 7 pm on May 16 on Iowa Public Radio, the Radio Home of the Des Moines Symphony.
