After starting violin lessons at the age of three, Sara Goplin took time away from music after high school. After trying several different careers, she realized what she really loved was music and picked the violin back up. She has played with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Symphony, the Boston Conservatory Symphony, and recorded with a bluegrass/gospel band in Boston. She teaches privately and currently sits as Principal Second violin with the Central Iowa Symphony. She joined the Des Moines Symphony as a sub in 2010, and as a contracted player in 2011.

Most memorable experience with the Orchestra
I'm brand new, so I think my most memorable experience was my first rehearsal - playing for the first time with this talented group of people!
How I got started playing my instrument
My mom tells me that I saw kids playing the violin at a Suzuki recital and pestered her until I got to take lessons too.
Just one? I really love to play Bach, but I couldn't narrow it down - too much amazing music out there.
I love to knit and sew, and I really enjoy cooking.
