Classical Conversations: What’s So Great About Beethoven 5?

Classical Conversations: What’s So Great About Beethoven 5?

Go inside the music.

Join Dr. Eric McIntyre of Grinnell College for an informal and enjoyable online class that discusses various topics in Classical Music. This class is designed for anyone who enjoys music — from long-time Symphony-goers to those interested in attending their first concert.

Our August topic is Beethoven's Fifth SymphonyWe'll explore the symphony from a variety of perspectives, with an emphasis on ways we might listen to gain a greater appreciation for the piece – and begin to realize that this symphony might actually be as good as they say it is!

C.J. Beinert from the Cheese Shop has created a special wine and cheese pairing for the class, and will join us on Zoom to discuss his selections. Want to add wine and cheese to your class purchase? Make your selections using the "Tickets" link above and follow the instructions for pickup the day of the class. Scroll down for the full descriptions of our August 19 pairings!

Before the class, set up the Zoom app on your phone, tablet, or computer. (New to Zoom? Here’s a handy video tutorial.) Please test this well in advance of the class, so you don’t miss anything. The private video conferencing link will be provided in a separate email sent the day of the class. To join, simply log in by clicking on the Zoom link we will send you.
