Youth Sinfonia & Youth Philharmonic Take Civic Center Stage for Recording Project

March 16, 2016

As part of their application to appear as a featured ensemble at the 2016 Midwest Clinic, the Des Moines Symphony Academy’s Youth Sinfonia & Youth Philharmonic participated in a recording project onstage at the Des Moines Civic Center on Sat Feb 27.  Conductors Matt Meyer and Michele Senger led a combined ensemble of over 80 musicians in grades 2-9 under the sonic backdrop of the Des Moines Symphony’s new state-of-the art acoustical shell.

“The opportunity for our middle two Youth Orchestras to perform on the Civic Center stage with this glorious new shell was a musical memory that these musicians will hold dear for quite some time,” said Joshua Barlage, Symphony Academy Managing Director.
