- Instrument Bass Trombone
Chicago-based trombonist Sean Yeung was appointed Bass Trombone of the Des Moines Symphony in 2022. Sean has also performed with South Bend Symphony, Orchestra Iowa and the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra.
In 2017, Sean joined the Civic Orchestra of Chicago as an associate member. In 2019, he advanced to the finals of the International Trombone Association’s Quartet competition as part of a quartet called The Chicago Thunderchops. The Chicago Thunderchops were invited to give a masterclass and recital at Western Illinois University in the summer of 2019, alongside international soloist Andrés León Rodríguez.
Sean received his bachelors degree from DePaul University; where he studied with Mark Fisher, Charlie Vernon, and Floyd Cooley. He then went on to receive his masters of music from Northwestern University; studying with Michael Mulcahy, Randy Hawes, Doug Wright, Tim Higgins, and Christopher Davis.
