The Des Moines Symphony Academy aims to provide the very best music education experiences for musicians of all ages. Since its founding in 2003, the Des Moines Symphony Academy has become a musical community of excellence where talented and motivated instrumental students of all ages can learn from renowned professional musicians and educators. 

Nearly 400 students are hosted each week at the Temple for Performing Arts downtown, where the Symphony Academy has a plethora of programs to choose from including: Beginning Strings Program, Honors Ensembles, Zauberflöte, and private lessons.

The Academy also offers six youth ensembles

  • Youth Wind Ensemble
  • Youth Jazz Orchestra

SCHOLARSHIPS

The Des Moines Symphony Academy offers tuition assistance in the form of need-based scholarships to any student with no discrimination towards a student’s color, national origin, sex, age, religion or disability. The purpose of the Symphony Academy’s scholarship program is to ensure that family finances do not prevent any student from participating in private lessons, classes, or ensembles at the Symphony Academy.
