Since its founding in the 1970s, the Meier Bernstein Foundation has been a dedicated force for good in our community, championing programs that uplift individuals facing personal challenges such as poverty, neglect, and abuse. The foundation’s work in Des Moines reflects a clear commitment to the arts, education and empowering individuals to find their voice through creativity.
Through its sustained support of local cultural organizations, the Meier Bernstein Foundation has helped enrich the lives of countless individuals in our community. Notably, the foundation has been a key partner of the Symphony. The foundation also supports many other local organizations, including the Des Moines Art Center’s Art Access programming, which ensures that children from diverse backgrounds have access to arts education and creative opportunities.
This year, the Meier Bernstein Foundation, along with generous support from our additional sponsors, allowed for nearly 5,000 school children to experience the transformative power of live orchestral music. They also provide scholarships for dozens of children to take private lessons at the Des Moines Symphony Academy, ticket support for our Community Ticket Program and sponsor the Heartland Youth Choir's performance at Hope – Copland & Gershwin.
Thank you to our friends at the Meier Bernstein Foundation for your generosity and commitment to youth outreach! It is due to the overwhelming support from our donors that the Des Moines Symphoy is enabled to enrich and educate generations to come.
