Andrew Holm is a cellist with the Des Moines Symphony. He is originally from Omaha and began playing the cello in the fourth grade. When he was growing up, he was a member of the Omaha Area Youth Orchestras and participated in numerous honor orchestras and music competitions. He received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Cello Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a student of Dr. Karen Becker. He also had occasional lessons with Gregory Beaver of the Chiara String Quartet, the artist-in-residence quartet at UNL. While at UNL, Andrew played in the UNL Symphony, Philharmonia, and numerous chamber groups. He also subbed for the Lincoln Symphony numerous times and played with the UNL Philharmonia at Carnegie Hall in January 2008. Andrew has been a member of the Des Moines Symphony since 2011.
