American violinist Hannah Ruth MacLean is an avid performer of solo, chamber, and orchestral music and has given performances across the United States and Canada. As a devoted chamber musician, Hannah is a founding member of the Cheng-MacLean duo, who made their debut at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in May of 2022. Hannah has performed chamber music with a variety of esteemed musicians including Rachel Barton Pine, Philip Chiu, and Marina Thibeault. Currently, she performs regularly with the Naples Philharmonic, Des Moines Symphony, Northwest Indiana Symphony, Orchestra Iowa, and the Illinois Symphony.
Hannah holds a Doctorate of Music in Violin Performance from Florida State University, where she was a graduate teaching assistant to Dr. Shannon Thomas. She received her Master of Music in Violin Performance from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University where she studied with Violaine Melançon and Felicia Moye, and her Bachelor of Music Education from Wheaton College as a student of Paul Zafer. She is passionate about teaching and coaching young musicians, and in the summers she serves as artist-faculty for the Prizm Music Festival in Memphis, Tennessee and the Tutti Chamber Music Festival in Wheaton, Illinois.
