- Instrument Bass Clarinet
James Orlando Garcia was appointed to the position of bass clarinet with the Des Moines Symphony in September 2022. A Chicago native, he was the principal clarinetist of the acclaimed Wheaton Municipal Band. As an avid woodwind doubler and enthusiast, he has performed on piccolo, flute, clarinet, and saxophone in musicals in the Chicagoland and Des Moines areas. His principal teachers were Audrey Denny and Melvin Warner.
