Lisa  Meyerhofer

Buffalo, NY native and current Nebraskan Lisa Meyerhofer is delighted to have joined the Des Moines Symphony in 2022 as she makes the Midwest her home. She currently holds positions as Acting Assistant Principal Flute with the Omaha Symphony, Second Flute/Piccolo with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, and Principal Flute at Opera in the Ozarks. Lisa has also served as Third Flute/Piccolo with the Omaha Symphony, Principal Flute with the Lexington Philharmonic, and has played with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Tulsa Symphony, Canton Symphony, and Southern Tier Symphony. 

Lisa’s additional accomplishments include an award in the 2017 Walfrid Kujala International Piccolo Competition, appearances in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition, and winning the 2007 Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition. She received her BM in Music Education and Performance from Ithaca College, studying with Wendy Mehne and Kelly Covert, and her MM in Flute Performance from Northwestern University, studying with John Thorne and Richard Graef.

When not traveling to her next performance (and sometimes even in the midst of traveling), Lisa maintains her own flute studio and also tutors math and science. She enjoys reading, riding her bike, hiking, photography, baking, and making paper beads and jewelry.
