Cellist Ryan Doerr grew up in Sioux Falls, SD where he studied cello starting at the age of seven. Ryan holds a B.A. in Music from Drake University and an M.A. in Cello Performance from the University of Iowa where he served as a Teaching Assistant to Professor Anthony Arnone.
Ryan is the associate principal cellist of Orchestra Iowa, was an associate member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and was principal cellist of Opera in the Ozarks. He has played with other orchestras including the Sioux City Symphony and South Dakota Symphony. Ryan’s teachers include Anthony Arnone, Gloria Lum, Ashley Sidon, and Karren-Melik Stepanov.
Ryan has been a member of the Des Moines Symphony since 2023.
