Sign-ups are now open for our annual Oh Say, Can You Sing? Competition!
Oh say, can YOU sing? We're looking for a singer to belt out the National Anthem in front of a crowd of 100,000 people at this year's Yankee Doodle Pops! To sign-up for an audition, fill out the sign-up form below. Keep in mind, however, that audition slots are first come, first serve. The first twenty individuals to sign up are guaranteed a slot. Five walk-up auditions will be allowed on the day of the competition.

The competition is held during the Des Moines Arts Festival, so make sure to also check out the entertainment and events happening in Western Gateway Park!

Important Dates:
- Oh Say, Can You Sing? Competition: Sat Jun 24, 2023 at 11am, located at Temple Chess and Poetry Garden
- Yankee Doodle Pops: Monday Jul 3, 2023 at 8:30pm
NOTE: If selected, performers must be available for these dates and times and provide their own transportation to Des Moines.
Competition Rules and Recommendations:
- Participants must perform the National Anthem with the provided accompanist in either A-flat Major or B-flat Major.
- Participants should wear whatever they feel comfortable in while still maintaining an air of professionalism.
- Have fun!
In addition to singing at the Des Moines Symphony's Yankee Doodle Pops, the competition winner receives two 2023-2024 Season Flex Packs and admission for two to one Masterworks concert intermission reception. The first runner-up receives two 2023-2024 Season Flex Packs. The second runner-up receives two 2023-2024 Masterworks tickets.
