In this recital, James has chosen a selection of five pieces that track music's evolution as an expressive art. From Bach to Debussy, Ferneyhough and beyond, each piece represents new developments in musical storytelling and the depiction of emotion. The concert will also feature soprano Maya Kherani, a 2020/21 Resident Artist at Opera San José, and Christopher James Ray, resident conductor at Opera San Jose who is also an assistant conductor with the San Francisco Symphony.
